Cebu Furniture Industry – Thin Improvement in Q4 of 2009

March 8, 2010- Cebu furniture industry after the period of recession is showing thin improvement in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2009. Cebu Furniture is the chief furniture exporter in Philippines and contributes to 60% of the total furniture export from Philippines. Superior design and great craftsmanship are the features of Cebu Industry furnitures.

According to Angela Paulin of Cebu Furniture Industry Foundation (CFIF) more orders in the last quarter of the year are pouring in but this does not mean any recovery from the past period of recession. The company has cut down the number of its employees and revenue to half in the last two years.

Cebu Furniture Industry also showed gloomy figures for this year. It made the export of $12.5million that is more than half less than the figures for the year 2008 in the same period. Those figures were $31.8 million.

Paulin said that it was the opening of new hotels and condominiums in USA that has helped the industries like Cebu Furniture Industry to keep working. Cebu furniture is very elegant and unique and during recession Cebu has learnt to remain creative to bear the tough times of teh market.
